Retribution (Lost Souls) (Volume 1)

Retribution - Amy Rachel Thompson 3.5 Stars

I found myself very intrigued just within the first few pages. It pulled me right in. Regan who’s a lost soul reincarnated however she cannot remember her past lives. So she is thrown into a world she doesn’t remember and a bad guy that wants her for unknown reasons. The Council sent a group of men known as the Collectors to protect her. Colter is one of the leaders of the Collectors and finds himself attracted to Regan and vice versa. You see Regan and Colter’s relationship grow as Regan life is thrown more into a world she is trying to understand. I really liked the book up until the last few chapters which brought my rating down just a little. Though I really wanted it to end a different way I can’t wait to see where and what’s going to happen next. Overall I liked it a lot and can’t wait for the next book.

Denali Skies

Denali Skies - Danielle Rohr I was mostly lost throughout this book. I get that Liz was trying to discover herself. I just don't think I followed her journey that well. Liz’s attitude towards her coworkers, going off with complete strange boys and her behavior in general came across as weird and annoying . In the beginning I thought she was going to get murdered and come back as a ghost. That didn't happen though I feel like I missed the story or a big part of it.

Delectable - Adrianne Lee 3.5 Stars

This was an okay book for me.
I started off not really liking it or maybe I should say I started off not liking Quint. He did grow on me as the story progress even though I still think he doesn’t deserve Callee. He was very selfish with how he treated everyone and it rubbed me the wrong way. Callee now she made this book she was what pulled me into the story. She was sweet, kind and an everyday kind of person that I couldn’t help but love. She was what kept me reading and I'm so glad I did because the story itself was very good once Quint came to his senses and started behaving like a normal human being. Overall I enjoyed this book it's a good contemporary romance and a series that I'll be continuing.

Me Before You: A Novel

Me Before You - Jojo Moyes My favorite book I have read this year!

It took me three sittings to read this book because I would only read it in the evenings because I didn't want to scare anyone. I think I went through 2 boxes of tissues. What an amazing heartwarming, heartbreaking tale. Lou and Will whom would have never met otherwise are brought together because of an accident that happened to Will. Lou is hired after losing her job as Will's caregiver / companion. As the book unfolds you see how Lou and Will relationship grows and becomes something very beautiful. I laughed and cried. It's a book that will stick with you. Loved it!

The Sugar Cookie Sweetheart Swap

The Sugar Cookie Sweetheart Swap - Donna Kauffman, Kate Angell, Kimberly Kincaid This book I made me crave winter. I wanted to curl up on the couch in front of a nice fire while it’s snowing with a wonderful man of my own and maybe a few anatomically correct gingerbread men. Each story was perfect they didn’t leave you wanting. With being short stories I usually feel as though something is missing. Not here. Just three fantastic make your toes curl romances all rolled into one great book.

Dead Sexy Dragon (Dragon Heat)

Dead Sexy Dragon - Lolita Lopez 2.5 stars

I liked it but I wasn't crazy about this book. The chemistry was hot between Cora and Stig. Believe me they were steaming up the pages. I just wish there would have been more with the knights and Cora's issues that brought her to Stig's door. My favorite aspect of paranormal is creating a world and characters so I was craving a little in that department. It's very intriguing about the dragons and I really want to get to know more about them and even learn a little more about Stig past and his brothers. Overall it grabbed me and it is a series I think that can get better and better as the world develops and I grow attached to more characters.

Belle Cora: A Novel

Belle Cora - Phillip Margulies I'm amazed how well this story was woven that I couldn't not become a part of as I read. Belle came alive. I truly felt that her life could have happened. It's always amazes me when I come a crossed a book that makes me wonder if a book has based its main character on someone in real life. This book did that I actually looked up all of Belle's names to see if she was person outside of the book. Her life and trails and all that she overcame just pulled me into her story. I became the bystander in the book able to see and feel everything. I know I wouldn't have survived as well as Belle did nor do I think I would have had the outcome that she did. She was a strong individual and did what she had to do to survive the hand she was dealt. She's an amazing woman in a wonderful book. I'm so glad that I got to read this!

Soul Kissed (Shadow Kissed)

Soul Kissed - Erin Kellison I loved it. I'm so happy that I came a crossed this series last year. It's a must own series for me! I'm amazed by how well the world Erin built and continues to build with each book. I love seeing my favorite characters from previous books pop up (Khan!). She bring something new with each book nothing is ever boring or repetitive. Each book is fresh, exciting and for me always a one sit read.

Mason and Cari were so great together. They both brought out the best in each other and were perfect. What can I say I actually liked the villain Maeve aka Mad Mab aka fae Queen aka Cari's (lots of greats) grandmother who possesses/lives inside her grandkids. Maeve was hilarious I couldn't get enough of her. I wish she would have been a bit more reasonable but I guess that what's happens when you have lots of power you go a little Mad. The real villain for me was Liv Mason's ex and Fletcher's mom. When she jumped back into the picture I could have screamed. Really didn't like her. Which leads me to Fletcher aka Stealth (coolest name ever for a really great kid) I didn't know how he was going to fit into all of this and really he was awesome and I hope one day he'll have his own book. Not yet he's to young.

Okay now I need to go back and read all the books again. You don't know what you’re missing until you start reading a very well developed creative world and characters! I hope this series never ends!

Recommend for any paranormal romance and urban fantasy fans!

Darkest Passion (Lords of the Underworld 7)

The Darkest Passion - Gena Showalter 3.5 Stars

The Marriage Merger (Marriage to a Billionaire, #4)

The Marriage Merger (Marriage to a Billionaire, #4) - Jennifer Probst I can't believe this is to be the last book in this series. Saving the best for last? For me it was. Once I started and couldn't look away. At the beginning I kept thinking where do I know Sawyer from he sounded so familiar. After he said he was from Vegas I knew who he was right away. He was perfect guy for Julietta. She needed someone to break her from her self-imposed cage and he did that and much more. Little did I know how much Sawyer needed Julietta in return. Beautifully written love story and a perfect ending to a wonderful series. The epilogue did surprise me a little. It was bittersweet.

The Silver Linings Playbook [movie tie-in edition]: A Novel

The Silver Linings Playbook - Matthew Quick 3.5 Stars

I think Mr. Quick over did it just a little on the football side. That kind of drove me nuts with all the Hank Baskett and AAAAAAHHHHH Eagles. I don't know how the chant goes thank goodness. Even though I read that chant I refused to let my mind picture them doing it. I thought about humming and skipping 10 lines every time I saw Eagles. As you can tell I'm not an Eagles fan. The story is gripping pulls you in even if you don't like the Eagles it might get a little annoying but you got to look for the silver lining. I liked how Pat view his life as a movie and most of the book take place during his apart time. He's working on bettering himself so he could have his silver lining. I think that is what kept me reading I wanted to see if Pat got his silver lining. Overall very enjoyable read.

Just One Night, Part 2: Exposed

Exposed - Kyra Davis What to do?
Throw my hands up and scream.
What to say?
I'm a little disappointed with you Kasie.

She didn't grow as much as I wanted her too. She was a bit whiny and very dependent on the people around her. I can't for the life of me picture top of her field woman being bullied around. Co-workers and friends so much for being the strong women she claims. I think this book set her back a little. Robert way overstepped his boundaries and she never put him in his place. He definitely came down a few notches for his behavior. Kasie did an okay job handling Dave. I say okay because I feel she could have done more. Hmmm like hit him square in the face with a frying pan would be on the top of my list. Her thoughts towards her sister or towards herself are completely off the mark and I hope she doesn't feel that way in the next book. Hopefully Kasie will stand on her own without someone else standing in the shadow pulling the strings. I don't know where the 3rd book will lead me.

Faking It

Faking It - Cora Carmack I’m loving this series.
This book didn't have the humor that the first book had but still was a great read. I wanted to read Cade's story to see his HEA after how things went for him in Losing It. So it was nice to see him fall for a girl who was so different on the outside though has the same core on the inside. I loved that he discovered love and grew and helped Max find and let her be herself. Max is like most girls they hide themselves or mold themselves into the person everyone wants them to be. She is still pretending to be this way for her parents so when they show up for a surprise visit. She picks Cade who would be the perfect guy to play her fake boyfriend. So it took her by surprise when she was attracted to a guy who she wouldn't have picked otherwise. I liked watching them both learn to trust and letting someone in that could end up destroying them. I will say I hated Max's parents (and sister-in-law) and how they dealt with the loss of one daughter and never really saw Max. It pissed me off towards the end on what they said and reacted. Despite my feelings for her parents I really enjoyed Cade and Max’s story and can't wait for the next book.

A Certain Want of Reason

A Certain Want of Reason - Kate Dolan I wanted a little more out of this book. It wasn't bad not by a long shot. I wanted more depth and detail I guess. The storyline was very interesting but in a way the story felt rushed because of not having the depth/details. In certain parts the story isn't very believable maybe that is why I'm not liking as much. Anyhow I would like to read the next book in the series.

Bossypants - Tina Fey I'm glad I got the audio version instead of the book. My expectations I believe were a little too high going in so I was more let down when I finished. I found it mildly humorous. I think the funniest thing she talked about was the men peeing in cups chapter. I have been on the lookout whenever I walk into any office looking for cups and jars. Overall I liked it. I'm happy that I finally got around to it.
